App Access Rights
The Birthdays app requires permission to send notifications in order to notify you of upcoming birthdays that you have entered into the app.
If you want to import birthdays from your contacts, you need to allow the app access to your contacts. The app accesses the following contact information: first name, last name, date of birth, availability of a contact picture, contact picture, contact identifier.
If you want to use calendar integration, you need to allow the app full access to your calendar.
If you want to take photos with the Birthdays app, you need to allow the app access to the camera.
If you want to add photos taken within the app to your photo library, you need to allow the app to add photos.
You can deny the mentioned accesses at any time in the system settings of your device.
Handling of Your Data
All birthdays and settings are stored locally on your device. If you use iCloud Sync, birthdays are additionally stored in iCloud. The Birthdays app uses CloudKit to sync your data. CloudKit is a service provided by Apple. Your data is stored in a private iCloud database that the developer of the Birthdays app does not have access to. You can turn off iCloud Sync and delete iCloud data in the app settings. For more information and terms about iCloud, visit the Apple website.
If you want to delete all data of the Birthdays app, you should do the following:
- Delete the Birthdays app from all your devices.
- Open the Settings app, go to [your name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage > Birthdays > Delete Data from iCloud and delete all data. If Birthdays is not available under Manage Account Storage, there is no iCloud data.
App Analytics
The Birthdays app does not collect any analytical data. However, Apple itself may collect crash data and statistics that are made available to developers. You can choose not to share them. To do so, you should do the following: Open the Settings app, go to Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements, and turn off Share With App Developers. Read more on Apple's website.
